Shuttle Tatting method

This is an easy pattern where you can practice the following methods of adding beads to your tatting. These are:




If you want to add a extra Beanile bead, as in the left earring above, you can add a bead before the join. This will be indicated in the directions

BEAD REQUIREMENTS
42 beads for the earring on the left
30 beads for the earring on the right
and 6 to be left in reserve for the PB+ (not loaded onto the shuttle thread.



R1: Load 3 beads into hand loop; 6 - 4 TB HBHBHB 4 - 6
Optional: replace each 6 ds with 3TB3

Slide bead next to ring just completed.

R2 to R5: Load 3 beads into hand loop; 6 PB+ 4 TB HBHBHB 4 - 6
Optional: replace each 6 ds with 3TB3
Remember to slide a bead between each of these rings

R6: Load 3 beads into hand loop; 6 PB+ 4 TB HBHBHB 4 PB+ 6
Optional: replace each 6 ds with 3TB3

Slide bead next to ring and tie ends.

Hide ends by passing the thread inside the beads in the middle of the motif, one thread going one way, the other going in the opposite direction.


ABBREVIATIONS

HB:  Hand Bead (BBB - 3 beads), or beads within the loop on the hand.
TB:  Thread Bead, or beads on the thread going back to the shuttle.
ch:  chain              cl:  close ring              + :  join             
PB+:  Picot Bead Join; Place bead on picot prior to joining, join in usual fashion. A fine crochet hook, dental floss threaders or the Tat's All Picot Beader© can be used to put the bead on the picot.
