Her Majesty
Created in honour of Elizabeth, the Queen mom, who passed away March 30, 2002 at the age of 101. She was a wonderful lady and we will never forget her passion for life, compassion for others and a boundless joy of living.
A similar, non beaded and multi part version, more suitable for a novice tatter (or those who prefer non beaded tatting) was designed by Mary Williams and appeared in the RoT newsletter in the early '70s and in the ROT Tatting 2000.
My inspiration for this crown, and a few others I have designed but not proofed, came from a book called "Crowns and Coronets" published years ago (it was my Mom's book, and the cover is gone).

Click to enlarge for printing. Load beads onto Bead Loader© in this order (note: reverse order if loading directly onto thread tail) 10 SLB, 1 CC, 1 SLB, 1 CC, 2 SLB, 2 CC, 2 SLB, 1 CC, 1 SLB, 1 CC, 16 SLB and load these onto the thread tail and along thread. Load thread onto shuttle 1, the ring shuttle, spacing them in groups of the last 10 SLB, everything but the first group of 16 SLB, and then that first group. Pull off 9 or 10 armlenghts of thread for the second shuttle (this is for size 30 thread and an Aero/Inox shuttle) and cut from ball. Load beads onto Bead Loader© in this order (note: reverse order if loading directly onto thread tail) 6 SLB, 9 RB, 6 SLB, 1 ED, 1 SD, 2 ED, 1 SD, 1 ED, 5 SD. Reserve balance of beads for beaded picot joins. |
