Tat's All Metallic Thread
The smaller size (893) was a little tricky at first(a little stiff) but once I was used to it, there was no problem and the results are worth it!
The thicker stuff (810) was a little harder to work with, I do not know if I would use it again, but also the results are wonderful.
Also, my sister in law tried the metallic thread; she loves the smaller sizes, easy to tat with great results, but she is not to crazy about the larger size. Between the two, she would use the larger size, but prefers the smaller.
I've used gold thread before but never anything like this. I've done some of the bells in it to show you (see below). The pattern can be found at http://www.e.n.e.btinternet.co.uk/bellrings.htm
Now to basics. This thread doesn't come un-ravelled when you cut the ends. It tats like a dream and works up just like a number 20 (I did one of the bells on a ring and used the same numbers of doubles as the pattern states). The surprising thing about it is that it looks just like tatted wire when the ring has been pulled up and that's without the hassle of tatting with wire (done that and not got the T shirt as I didn't like it!). The gold thread that I've used before always unravels and this makes it difficult to load with beads.
With the 10 meters I had, I tatted up three bells, and had enough for two wee butterflies.
I will go and look myself when I go back on-line as I want to know more myself about the cost of this SUPER thread. I just LOVE it or had you already gathered that???!!!!
Yup! This thread is great stuff. Very easy to use. You can even untat (carefully) and retat without damaging it seriously.
Unlike any other metallic I've used.
