A Tatter's Workbook

This is a book a tatter created in the 1920's, recording patterns created and practiced. The identity of this tatter is unknown.
The workbook pages, typed by the tatter, are shown at 70% with the actual sample tatted by the author either pinned or sewn to the page before it was copied by Lacis.
The patterns were all tested and reproduced beside the patterns to act as a visual pattern.
This book can be used for patterns, inspiration and as a coffee table book.... even non-tatters will enjoy looking at it.

Now you have a chance to practice those new techniques by making 24 really pretty snowflakes.
It is written in Danish, but you won't need a translator (it's pretty close to English).
But, even if you find yourself challenged by the language, very detailed graphic patterns make work simple. There are very good illustrations at the beginning of the book that shows split rings, split chains, block tatting, scmr and more!
It may be a small book, but it sure packs a wallop!

Personal note: She has an abbreviation PW for Press Work, and with the Point of Light Pattern, center right on cover, you have to!

German Tatting Patterns

For the creative tatters, there are tips for designing a tatted yoke and your own heirloom Christening gown. And to close off, there are tips on how to wash tatting and making the 2 most used knots: slip and weaver's.

Tatting Made Simple

The first 15 pages cover the standard terms, glossary and 5 detailed shuttle tatting lessons using the loop method (Yea! it's fast, it's easy and it will be a lot easier for you when you learn split rings!).
The patterns cover simple ring and chain edgings to more complex ones, cloverleafs, how to decorate stationery, make a sweater guard, 2 cross bookmarks and 2 hens and chicks patterns. There are tips and answers to common questions at the back of the book.
